I am a third-year student of Economics and Mathematics at the University of Maine. I have experience professionally tutoring up to college calculus, and have hours of informal experience working with peers. I have taught in singular settings, but I am open to groups.

I base my tutoring on the fact that math is a cumulative subject: if you neglect the foundation, no amount of work can build a student's talents. I disagree heavily with rote memorization: if you don't know why something is worth knowing, what's the point in knowing it? Instead, I focus on more performance-based solutions. First, I explain the underlying principles at work; then, I work through examples; finally, I encourage the student to complete it without help.
