About Carlette
I'm Carlette, why choose Carlette? What do I bring to your table ... Cultural Perspective - Contemporary Māori Arts brings a unique cultural perspective to teaching, incorporating Māori values, storytelling, and creativity, an inclusive art experience, which many standard art teachers may not provide. Prepress Expertise - Offers students practical, professional skills in design, layout, or digital art alongside traditional art practice. Experience with Disabled and Vulnerable Adults - 15 years experience working alongside disabled and vulnerable creatives has taught me how to empathetically teach; adapt lessons, build confidence, and create safe, supportive environments for learners who may need extra care. My Teaching Philosophy and Method is patient, hands-on, and confidence-focused. Balancing structure with creativity, meaning students learn both skills and self-expression, emphasizing empowerment through art, not just technical ability it needs to be fun

My Approach to Tutoring
To teach with patience, creativity, and encouragement, using a supportive, step-by-step method tailored to each learner’s abilities. My classes focus on building confidence first, then gradually developing technical skills in drawing, painting, design, and digital prepress foundations. I use clear demonstrations, hands-on practice, ensuring every student feels seen and capable.
Most lessons run for 60–90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs. I adjust the pace for learners with disabilities or additional challenges, ensuring they are never rushed and always supported.
My lessons are suitable for beginners to intermediate learners, including adults with intellectual, cognitive, physical, or mental-health challenges, as well as those seeking a gentle, confidence-building introduction to art and design.
