About Isaac

I am a Theology and Religion student currently based in Norfolk, studying for my ongoing degree at Durham University during term time. I achieved A*'s in English Literature and Language at GCSE level, as well as an A* in English literature at A Level whilst studying at Magdalen College School, Oxford - the winner of The Sunday Times independent school of the year 2004 and 2008.

Whilst I chose to read Theology at University, I maintain a longstanding passion for English and studying literature in various forms, and I will look to share my interest with any student I have the privilege of teaching so that they may develop a desire to explore the text or topic for themself. I always display a strong degree of patience for pupils if they are struggling with content or failing to engage with the subject in order to prevent the build up of stress, as well as to ensure that progress is made at comfortable pace whilst still providing a challenge to improve further.

I've gained experience working in school environments having led a music workshop across 15 primary schools in Oxfordshire. This provided me with an opportunity to put my teaching skills to practice, as well as giving valuable insight as to how to approach interactions with children possessing varying personalities and traits.

I am available for tutoring in the Norfolk/Suffolk area in holidays (in the immediate future between now and mid September), and then in and around Durham/Newcastle in university term time (my first term starts in mid September and ends mid December).

About the lesson

I can guarantee the provision of thorough and stimulating tuition needed to improve any students grades, having experienced and understood first hand what is required to achieve the highest results. Having worked closely with various tutors throughout school and in higher education, I have accumulated experience and knowledge as to a wide range of teaching methods that can be used to bring out the best in a student.

The value of extra tutoring, combined with ongoing schooling, can be hugely significant in exam preparation and greatly increases potential for higher achievement, especially in subjects such as English where regular revisits of set texts can lead to improved and wider understanding of content. I believe however, that any students full potential can only be unlocked through a willing attitude - something I look to bring out through emphasis on the individual and how they are working to be the best version of themselves possible.

Regardless of a students capability, I will make it my priority to push the boundaries of what is achievable and maximise potential for hitting the highest grades possible. I understand from personal experience the significance and weight often attached with sitting exams, however I believe such tasks should be met as a challenge of bettering self achievement and reaching heights previously thought to be out of reach. I also believe it is vital to solidify an attitude with any pupil that they know they are working for their own benefit, in order that they develop a motivation and desire to succeed and see their grades improve through hard work and perseverance.

Were you to hire me, I would require information on the exam board in question, as well as a period of a few days to familiarise myself with the text or content in question, in order that I could prepare lessons to a suitable level of detail.
