About Dr Ammar

I’m currently an oncology resident with over 8 years of teaching experience, having guided more than a 1,000 students, from junior medical students to high school students and future doctors. And today, I continue this work online.

I don’t just teach, I mentor. I help you develop smarter study strategies, achieve academic success, and even improve your overall well-being.

One key lesson I’ve learned: don’t chase grades, build true understanding. When you focus on learning deeply, results, confidence, and opportunities follow naturally.

No matter your starting point, I believe every student can improve, and I will show you how. Whether you're struggling or aiming for top performance, I will:

• Identify your strengths and gaps

• Build a personalized study plan

• Monitor your progress step by step

• Support and motivate you consistently

My #1 rule: don’t focus on grades, focus on real understanding. When you truly understand the material, everything else improves naturally, your scores, your confidence, and your opportunities.

That’s exactly how I teach. I turn complex topics into something clear and memorable using real-life examples, clinical insights, and practical applications, so you don’t just memorize, you actually get it.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I've always liked learning something new to begin with, I did a double major in Physics/Medicine, and I remember 3 classmates coming to me during the second grade and they asked me to tutor them pathology and I did and I liked doing it, and it ended up being my main source of income for the rest of med school, now I'm a doctor and it has been 8 years and probably more than 500 different students and I'm still totally psyched to be able to teach, and at the same time have it being a good side hustle for me of course, and I swear ! I still get excited everytime I meet a new student here. Overall it's all an endless win win win in my book.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

All of the the subjects of medical sciences and biology with its branches (such as microbiology, physiology, pathology, immunology, pharmacology etc..) are very interconnected and close to my heart, but I'm especially gravitated toward topics that applies to our daily life and that benefits us directly, for example the muscles physiology, knowing everything about the muscles and hormones of our body have helped me run tons of marathons and be fit with ease, and I'm always happy to give the tips to my students if they asked for it, what I'm trying to say is: I like to bring subjects to real life and not just leave it in the books, I like to make the student visualize it, with applications and use scenarios.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Afksendiyos Kalangos the famous children heart surgeon, I met him in an international congress we held in Cyprus, he was the guest of honor, we had a conversation and he pointed that he liked the research paper that we wrote with my group, he was very humble despite how important of a man he is, and it humbled me in turn for the rest of my life, he also told me: "listen to the patients with your heart and your ears, your ears won't be enough" what a great man ! all my love and respect goes to him.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience and empathy, a teacher must know how to make the students feel safe and relaxed to ask their questions without any hesitation, preferably to hold a conversation with the students rather than a one sided monologue. A good tutor must also encourage their students and push them to achieve their goals and dreams, and must believe in them infinitely, in my opinion those things are as important as the knowledge that the tutor is providing itself.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

This one is about the craziest and most amazing professor teacher I've had, she taught Biochemistry and her lectures were usually 4 or 5 hours back to back because she had to fly from another city to come give them and leave back immediately to her busy life, she didn't give any breaks but she always brought kinder chocolate with her to feed the whole 90 students in the class 3 times, now that's a loooot of chocolate ahahahah it was a big heavy bag everytime, we ended up really liking the concept and the chocolate triggered a reward mechanism in us that made us focused the whole time, her way of teaching was graspy also, the craziest part is that she claimed she only slept for 3.5 hours per night !!! and I totally believe her because she is a very honest and trustful person, but how can she do that !!! she is like a super tutor, I believe here on the superprof platform she would be a super ambassador or a super mega ambassador. If you're wondering what is the moral of the story.. It's that you don't need rest, rest is overrated, what you really need is to study/work and chocolate.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Actually I'm very comfortable with teaching anything related to medicine and biology, it's my passion ! I taught for years and taught 100s of students, but the real challenge that I'm facing now is my time being limited, the hospital work can be very taxing often and unfortunately I sometimes have to reject new students simply because there is no room for them.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I'm all about learning things and then immediately applying them to my life to benefit from them, all the way from Med school to this moment of me practicing Internal Medicine. To start I learned the evidence based studying techniques and implemented them to my study since year 1 and it helped me graduate as a honor student, then everytime I learned something new that can benefit my parents and improve their life quality I implemented it on them, especially my mom who had a bunch of health issues and I helped her overcome most of them, I've also helped myself to be fit and healthy, and to be put and realistic in this world of endless chaos and hyper-expectations. And That passion in turn led to other passions, like piano, marathon running, and of course teaching !
  • What makes you a Superprof?

Shortly, my students are what makes me Superprof. Every person that I've ever taught has seen a great benefit and returned the benefit to me, either with their lovely reviews that I always read and that always make me smile, or with the joy that I see on them when they achieve their goals whether that was passing an exam or getting to a specific university etc...
