About Gemma
I am a university student based in Wellington with a strong academic background in English and essay-based subjects. I achieved Excellence across NCEA Levels 1–3 and have a clear understanding of both the course content and the assessment criteria required to succeed at Achieved, Merit, and Excellence levels.
I have prior tutoring experience from my final year of high school, where I supported students in developing essay structures, analytical depth, and exam confidence. I am reliable, organized, and committed to creating a supportive and professional learning environment.
Alongside my studies, I enjoy reading, writing, and staying active. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in teaching, and tutoring allows me to combine my passion for education with helping students reach their full potential!
My goal is not only to improve students’ grades, but to build their confidence and long-term academic skills.

My tutoring focuses on building confidence and strong analytical skills. I help students understand how to structure high-quality essays, develop clear arguments, and integrate evidence effectively; all key skills for success in NCEA English and Classics.
Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s needs. I use scaffolded essay planning, model responses, practice paragraphs, and past exam questions to build both skill and exam confidence.
My typical Lesson Length is 60 minutes
I am a New Zealand university student with a strong academic background in English and essay-based subjects. I received scholarship English and was top of my class. I have extensive experience writing analytical essays and preparing for NCEA assessments, as a past NCEA learner myself.
I tutor NCEA Level 1–3 English and Classics (ages 14–18), particularly students aiming to move from Achieved to Merit or Excellence.
