About Charlotte

I attended a university which specialised in education and teaching, although I studied Literature I was given the opportunity throughout my degree to gain experience teaching a range of abilities in multiple schools. These included students with English as a second language, SEN students and high ability students. I tailored the same topics to meet the needs of all students when I taught and created activities to help them excel academically and gain confidence in their ability to read, write and analyse. I develop relationships with students based upon trust and mutual respect as I believe positive relationships are intrinsic for the students to reach their maximum potential and thrive as individuals.

I have had experience myself learning a foreign language abroad as I was an ERASMUS student who moved to Spain. Because I have lived in another culture and learned a language I understand the challenges of a student learning English as a second language. I also know ways of learning which I personally found to be the most effective through my experience abroad.

About the lesson

My teaching style when teaching English as a second language is informal and fun with a strong basis in conversation and communication development. I create personalised lessons for each student based on their ability and confidence using platforms such as powerpoint and word. Each student's needs will be tailored for and their interests pursued. I am attentive, patient and caring which helps with the confidence and personal growth of each student.

When teaching GCSE and A-Level subjects I will assess the students current ability and develop their stills to meet the requirements of the curriculum. These lessons will be more formal than my TSL lessons as the curriculum outlines formal expectations and targets for attainment which need to be met. I will closely follow this whilst still adapting the content of the lessons to the ability and interests of each student. I will also bring an element of fun and freshness to the subjects taught through conversation and use of technology.
