About Gannon

My name is Gannon, and I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. I'm currently attending the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and I'm 3 years into an accelerated English program. I've helped a number of peers hone their essay writing skills, and I'm looking forward to doing the same for you! I come from a family of teachers and educators, so passing on knowledge is extremely important to me, and I want to convey that through my tutoring as clearly as possible.

About the lesson

My teaching method relies heavily on student direction and opinion. I want to avoid simply telling a student what to do or rewriting their work for them. Everyone has different strengths, and it's important to draw out those things which they are naturally good at in order to more easily develop any skills that may be lacking.
Typically, my writing lessons will focus on one topic or skill at a time. I will ask a student to submit or read aloud a piece of their work so that I can get a good idea of where they can make progress, as well as asking the student where they feel they'd like to improve. By the end of the lesson, the student will have gained some new ideas to best express their thoughts through their work.
Generally, my lessons are going to be best suited to middle school and high school students who are struggling to compose essays or understand the topics in their English classes, but I'm also prepared to help with a wide range of English-related troubles.
