About Rebecca

Everyone learns differently, and writing is a highly individualized task. I’m interested in helping you uncover your strengths and develop skills that will empower you to become a proficient reader and confident writer. I love my subject and enjoy the challenge of personalizing my instruction to best meet the needs of individual students. During my ten years as a public high school teacher I’ve taught everything from AP English to remedial English. I’ve gone to nationals as a Speech & Debate coach and have received high honors for our student literary magazine program, but my favorite part of teaching has always been observing the confidence that develops from a place of hardship. Whatever is holding you back from doing your best work isn’t a flaw or commentary on your intelligence as much as it is an opportunity to learn about yourself. I know tackling where to start can be overwhelming, but you are capable and full of promise! I look forward to working with you.

About the lesson

Your session with me will be as individualized as the writing task you’re hoping to accomplish. We’ll work together to identify challenges and I will tailor my instruction to set you up with the necessary skills to progress to the next step. By the end of your lesson we will break down your goal into a few manageable steps so you feel prepared to continue or finish your project.
I can also help with reading responses or other comprehension related assignments in most subjects, including college courses. The structure for those lessons will vary depending on the content, subject, amount of material, and task.
