About Emily

I am a licensed preschool through fifth grade teacher along with a certification and background in reading instruction. I have taught full time for four years, three in fifth grade and one as a reading specialist. I have spent the last three years teaching Science, Social Studies, Math, and Language Arts to fifth graders. I have tutored students in the past along with substitute teaching.

About the lesson

The method that I use to teach is similar to the "I do, We do, You do" method of teaching. I think it is imperative that examples be given and outcomes are demonstrated. I also feel that it is important for all students to gain independence and confidence to complete work and tasks on their own. I create lessons that are fun, engaging, and interactive. I believe that every student has endless potential and that it is my job, as a teacher, to help them reach that potential. It is important to me, as a teacher, to know each of my students needs. I feel this helps me to begin where they are at, give them what the need, and help them succeed.

Details

I will charge a flat rate of $18/hour for any student. I can tutor via webcam, meeting in a public space, or having students come to my home. I will charge $14/hour for multiple hours. If I have to drive a further distance, outside of the Willoughby/Mentor area, I will charge an additional $3 dollar flat rate.
