About Rebecca
I started my teaching career in Korea in 2004. I taught ESL and ESL Drama for 5 years. After that I obtained my teaching certification from the University of Maine in Elementary Education. Following my certification, I taught in Moscow Russia,Bangkok, Thailand and Beijing China. Presently I am a Grade 1 teacher on a small First Nations reserve in Canada. I have been in this position for 4 years.
I am an Arts focused teacher who uses drama and music to help my students to learn and grow. The Arts are very important to my teaching philosophy.

I believe in making lessons fun and exciting. I use music and drama techniques in my lessons very often to help the student to feel comfortable and at ease.
Typically we would start a subject, brainstorm what we know, ask what we want to know after and then record our findings (KWL). I try to focus my lessons on the level and the interests of my students. For example this week we did a lesson on pirates for my grade 1 class.
I have a good energy and I respect my students and their learning. I allow the student to take part in what we learn and focus the lessons on their interests.
I usually teach lessons to early years and Elementary students, though I also have experience with High School and Adult ESL students
