About Heidi
I am a reading tutor/ESL teacher with a love for travel. I have taught ESL for 3 years. I completed my undergrad from The Crown College with an emphasis in Linguistic Studies and Structured Literacy and am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in TESOL. I first developed my love for teaching while I lived in the United Kingdom where I was able to teach English to people from all over the world. I started tutoring a student with reading problems shortly after I returned to the United States and really enjoyed watching the student begin to understand concepts and new skills. I have been teaching English for three years while working on my TESOL certification and undergrad. I have taught English in England and Uganda, as well as in the United States. For the last year, I taught at an English class at the University of Tennessee once a week. I have been able to teach students from China, Pakistan, India, Columbia, Spain, France, etc. My students have shown remarkable progress on vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension, whether studying online or in person.

My goal is to help my students reach their goals. In a preliminary meeting, I ask my students what their learning goals are and what areas they would like to improve and develop. These are the areas that we focus on. Along the way, I bring in other activities to tackle issues or learning gaps that I have noticed.
