About Douglas
Hello, I'm Douglas.
I have spent more than 20 years working in the Australian Public Service and major consulting firms, helping people communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. Throughout my career I have written speeches, ministerial correspondence, business cases, evaluation reports and strategic advice for senior decision-makers.
One of the most rewarding parts of my work has always been coaching and mentoring others. As a senior manager in consulting, I spent a great deal of time helping junior staff develop stronger arguments, improve their writing and build confidence in their ability to communicate effectively. Many of those coaching conversations took place online, much like the sessions I now offer to students.
I hold a Master of Professional Accounting (with Distinction), a Graduate Diploma in International Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University with majors in Law, Philosophy, Political Science and History.
I enjoy helping students tackle challenging assignments, organize their thinking and develop the skills needed to write clearly and persuasively. Whether you're working on an essay, report, thesis or research project, my goal is not simply to improve a piece of work, but to help you become a stronger writer and thinker.
I particularly enjoy working with university students, postgraduate students and mature-age learners who are looking to develop skills that will serve them both academically and professionally.

My lessons are tailored to the needs of each student and are delivered online.
I encourage students to send their assignment brief, draft work or questions before the session so that we can focus on the areas where they need the most support. Together, we work through ideas, structure arguments, strengthen critical analysis and improve the clarity and persuasiveness of your writing.
I can help with essays, reports, research projects, policy papers, business assignments and thesis preparation. Rather than simply correcting work, I focus on helping students understand how to develop stronger arguments, organise their ideas effectively and communicate with greater confidence.
My approach is supportive, practical and interactive. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in government and consulting, I help students develop the writing, analytical and communication skills that are valuable not only at university, but throughout their professional careers.
