About Alan

Alan is an experienced English teacher with 10+ years in education at a private, Catholic school. I have a strong background in helping students grow as confident, capable writers. I have spent years working with high school students in the classroom, guiding them through everything from literary analysis and research papers to college application essays.

I understand that writing can feel overwhelming for many students. My strength lies in breaking complex assignments into clear, manageable steps while creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks. I believe every student can improve with the right structure, guidance, and encouragement.

With a calm and patient approach, I focus not only on improving grades but also on building lasting skills. My goal is to help students become independent thinkers and writers who can approach any assignment with confidence.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I will focus on building confident, independent thinkers—not just completing assignments. My approach is rooted in clear structure, encouragement, and practical strategies that students can use across all of their classes.

I will teach writing as a process. Together, we will break down complex assignments into manageable steps—brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising—so you are never overwhelmed.
