About Sharon
Hi, I'm Sharon! I'm an experienced English tutor and Communications professional with a passion for helping students build confidence in their reading, writing, and literacy skills through personalized learning approaches.
My experience working in the disability sector sparked a strong interest in understanding how people learn differently. As a former Learning Support Assistant, I supported high school students with a range of learning styles, abilities, and goals, and quickly learned that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to education.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve their literacy, reading, and writing skills, but to help them enjoy learning by first understanding how they learn best. I tailor lessons to each student's strengths, interests, and learning style so that concepts feel engaging, relevant, and easier to understand. I have successfully supported students to improve reading confidence, literacy skills, essay structure, and written expression, and I enjoy helping develop skills that promote independent learning in the classroom and beyond.
Outside of tutoring, I work in Communications and Marketing, where writing, editing, and translating complex information into clear, accessible language are part of my everyday role.

My teaching approach is tailored to each student's individual learning style, goals and confidence level. I believe students learn best when lessons are engaging, practical and connected to real-world examples, helping them understand not just what they are learning, but why it matters.
Drawing on my experience as a Learning Support Assistant, I adapt lessons to suit a range of learning styles and abilities. Whether a student needs support with reading comprehension, literacy, essay writing, oral presentations or written expression, I focus on building both skills and confidence in a supportive environment.
I currently work with primary and secondary school students and have successfully helped students strengthen their reading, literacy and essay-writing skills. Lessons are designed around each student's needs and may include homework support, assignment guidance, exam preparation, essay planning, reading comprehension activities and writing exercises.
Lessons are typically one hour in length and delivered online. I also offer a free introductory lesson to discuss learning goals, identify areas for improvement and create a personalised learning plan.
Lessons are suitable for primary and secondary school students of all abilities, including those who benefit from additional support, confidence-building or tailored learning strategies.
