About Owen

Hi! I’m a pre-med student committed to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a deep love for learning and teaching. I’m currently dual-enrolled and will graduate high school with over 60 college credits already completed. Some of the classes I’ve taken include English 1 and 2, philosophy, U.S. history, political science, and other essay-heavy courses that have sharpened my reading and writing skills beyond the high school level. Outside the classroom, I’m a nationally ranked archer and a member of Team USA, which has taught me focus, discipline, and how to coach others—skills I bring to every tutoring session. I’ve taught SAT classes, helped students at school, and love working with peers to make writing less frustrating and more understandable. Whether you’re prepping for tougher classes, trying to pass English, or just want someone to help guide you through your assignments, I’d love to help.

About the lesson

Struggling with English class? Whether it’s reading dense texts, writing essays, or understanding grammar, I help students (grades 6–11) build the skills and confidence they need to succeed—both in class and on future standardized tests like the SAT.

I’ve tutored in school and taught SAT prep courses. But more importantly, I know how to explain things clearly, make lessons engaging, and adapt to the way each student learns best.

My tutoring style is approachable, personalized, and strategy-driven.
I focus on:

- Breaking down difficult readings into understandable parts

- Teaching grammar and writing in a way that actually makes sense

- Helping students organize their thoughts and express them clearly in writing

- Building confidence through guided practice and positive feedback

A typical lesson includes:

- A check-in on current school assignments or problem areas

- A short lesson targeting a specific skill (like thesis-building or tone analysis)

- Practice with support and real-time feedback

- Tools or strategies to take with you for independent work
