About Courtney

Hi, I’m Courtney! I’m a former classroom teacher with two years of professional teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from Columbia University. These days, I work in marketing, but I’ve never lost my love for helping kids learn and grow. I tutor children ages 4–12 in English grammar, spelling, and writing, combining the patience and structure of a trained educator with a warm, encouraging approach. I believe learning should feel fun and confidence-building, and I tailor each session to your child’s unique needs—whether we’re working through current homework or building foundational skills. My goal is to help kids not only succeed in school but also enjoy the process of learning and expressing themselves.

My sessions are designed to be structured yet engaging, blending proven educational techniques with a kind, patient, and encouraging style that helps children feel confident and motivated. Teaching Method & Techniques I come prepared with tried-and-true tools from my background in teaching and education, tailored to each child’s age, level, and learning style. I use a mix of interactive exercises, creative writing prompts, and skill-building activities to make English grammar, spelling, and writing enjoyable and effective. Typical Lesson Plan Warm-Up (5 min): A short activity to build focus and confidence, like a spelling game or vocabulary challenge. Homework & School Support (15–20 min): Review current assignments, clarify confusing concepts, and practice together. Skill-Building & Enrichment (10–15 min): Focused exercises on grammar, writing, or reading comprehension to strengthen areas beyond the homework. Wrap-Up (5 min): Summarize what we learned and set a simple practice goal for the week.
