About Cher

I completed a Bachelor of Education degree in 2005 and went on to further her studies, obtaining an Award in Literacy and Dyslexia, accredited by the British Dyslexia Association. I am registered with General Teaching Council of Scotland and am a member of the PVG scheme/ Disclosure Scotland.

Passionate about education and learning through experience, I pride myself on adopting a multi-sensory approach to learning using a variety of mediums and methodologies. Predominantly working with children 5-18years through private tuition and small literacy group intervention.

My background in teaching has proven to be invaluable in helping those with difficulties succeed.

About the lesson

Private tuition is offered for specific difficulties in phonics, spelling, comprehension, reading and dyslexia. An individualised program is devised for specific learning difficulties and areas of concern. Each multi-sensory lesson is aimed at working on a specific concept, sound and skill. Progress can be tracked weekly and all resources are specifically designed to teach in a fun, interactive way through exploration, games and activities. Weekly games and readers are also provided for consolidation.

The Conquering Literacy Program is a structured programme for teaching literacy to children and young people with dyslexia and specific literacy difficulties. It offers a structured, cumulative, multi-sensory teaching programme for learners with dyslexia, and draws attention to some of the wider aspects of the learning styles and differences of learners with dyslexia such as memory, information processing and automaticity.

Each weekly lesson incorporates alphabet work, interactive game/s, literacy concept, reading (Levelled reading scheme) Sight word consolidation (Dolch High Frequency list) spelling, memory training and craft/multisensory activity.
