About Jade

I am a dedicated educator, mentor, and academic coach with over five years of experience supporting students in reaching their academic goals. I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College, where I graduated Cum Laude with Honors, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education. I am also pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Currently, I teach high school English, where I help students strengthen their reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills every day. My experience includes working with students of varying academic levels, learning styles, and backgrounds, allowing me to personalize instruction to meet each student's needs.

Students and families can expect professionalism, patience, consistency, and high-quality instruction. I believe learning happens best when students feel supported, challenged, and confident in their abilities. My goal is not only to help students improve grades and test performance but also to develop the skills and confidence needed for long-term success.

Whether a student needs help with reading comprehension, essay writing, literary analysis, grammar, study skills, SAT preparation, or overall academic organization, I provide structured, engaging lessons designed to produce measurable growth. I am committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking academic risks, and celebrating their progress.

About the lesson

As an experienced high school English teacher with a Master's in Teaching and doctoral studies in Educational Leadership, I believe every student can succeed when instruction is personalized, structured, and encouraging. My approach focuses on building both skill and confidence. Rather than simply giving answers, I help students understand the "why" behind concepts so they can apply their learning independently.
My teaching methods include guided practice, scaffolded instruction, active discussion, close reading strategies, writing workshops, and targeted feedback. I break complex skills into manageable steps and adapt lessons to each student's learning style, strengths, and areas for growth.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous learning and a clear objective. We then work through a mini-lesson focused on a specific skill, such as essay writing, literary analysis, grammar, reading comprehension, SAT preparation, or study strategies. Students practice the skill with my support before completing independent work and receiving feedback. Each lesson ends with a summary of key takeaways and next steps.

What sets me apart is my combination of classroom teaching experience, leadership in education, and commitment to relationship-building. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically. My goal is not only to improve grades but also to help students become confident, independent learners.

My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and early college students. I specialize in English Language Arts, including reading comprehension, literature, academic writing, essay development, grammar, vocabulary, research papers, literary analysis, and SAT/college readiness skills. I also support students who need organization, study skills, and academic confidence-building.
