About Darnell

Darnell Campbell is an all year, all the time, fundamental basketball skills development and training coach. Darnell’s mission is to use an innovative, quality training system to provide a comprehensive program for athletes of all ages and skill levels. I believe in the use of research-based programs, true performance improving drills and training to improve athletes’ fundamental basketball skills, confidence and sportsmanship. I will educate, support and nurture athletes by teaching, mentoring and guiding each one that I have the opportunity to work with. My training will evaluate a player’s game, offer precise and specific suggestions for modification, build upon a players existing talents and allow the athlete to grow and see tangible results at game time. Experiencing the accomplishments and success of basketball, teamwork and athletic dedication has also blessed me with a true passion for teaching and coaching others. As a coach, my goal is to help fellow lovers of the game to realize his or her ultimate basketball potential and personal best. Through skill development, physical challenges, unconditional support and advice and inspirational motivation, Coach Darnell is there every step of the way. Whether trying to make the team, rehabbing an injury, getting started from the beginning or working one’s way to the elite top, I want to be a part of the journey and the first one to congratulate you as you take your game to the next level!

I started working with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2005 and currently working with The Los Angeles Clippers 2019



Darnell Campbell’s basketball career began at Lake Erie College in Painseville, Ohio where as a 6 foot 6 inch small forward he finished as the school’s 5th all time leading scorer and 5th all time leading rebounder.  He went on to play semi pro basketball in the ABA and UBA.  He has trained with several NBA players including Al Jefferson, Kyle Korver, Kyrie Irving, Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors, Jemal Tensley, Travis Outlaw, Al Thorton, Chris Duhon, Andris Biedrins, Jajuan Johnson, DeMarre Carroll and Mo Williams.  He started his work in youth coaching, development and basketball training with the National Basketball Academy in 2005, and has coached high school boys’ basketball. Mr. Campbell worked youth camps for the Cleveland Cavaliers in Ohio, and upon re locating to Los Angeles, became the Director of the LA Clippers Youth Hoops Program.  Mr. Campbell has also worked youth camps for NBA players including Al Jefferson, JJ Hickson, Ramon Sessions, Daniel Gibson, Delonte West and several more.  He also has enjoyed playing in the Venice Beach League during summer, with Metta World Peace and other great talents.

My training programs are the best available and are tailored to fit players on an individual basis.  I design programs for athletes to ensure that they will get the most from their time working with me.  I  train players of all ages and skill levels; from youth, teen, collegiate and adult, beginning to advanced elite athletes.  Session time with my coaching is intended for those players who seek to become better acquainted with the game of basketball, desire to be better and stronger and more confident with his or herself and for those who intend to play for their school teams, AAU, community or college teams.  Try one session to see how you feel about my coaching for yourself, but as can be expected, the most effective results will come from multiple, consistent training sessions. Teaching the fundamentals is key 🔑
