About Julia

A lifetime committed to creating and sharing the joy of creative process. As an art professor for over 30 years who has taught in many areas (drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, art history and apprecaition, contemporary art, art theory, design, interdisciplinary courses, life drawing, careers in art, ... and more) I have deep experience and knowledge, as well as an ability to serve each student, starting with where they are and what they desire.

I love people and am committed to nurturing creativity and the imagination however, wherever, I am able. I love to work with all ages, all abilities, in all settings. Supplies and a beautiful studio space is available for us to work together.

I have always loved people, nature, the imagination, and being creative. Growing up in a large family with 5 younger and two older siblings, we were a collaborative working team who learned to be mentored and to mentor, and to help others. I started working with children in creative play as a young woman working with people with disabilities. That led me into offering 'Art Adventures: Music, Art and Movement' for children in my art studio, and later to working in the Cincinnati Art Museum's educational program. After various experiences sharing my passion for art making, I became an Artist in Residence throughout out Montana, eventually pursuing my MFA and teaching at MSU- Bozeman in the Art and Architecture Departments. That led me to further teaching opportunities and am now a professor running the art program and teaching studio art at the University of Providence.

Master of Fine Arts- painting, printmaking, film, Soul Motion Embodied Leadership Training, Soul Motion Teacher Training, 300 hour yoga teacher training, and more.

About the lesson

It depends on our mission. I have a multiple approaches depending on what is desired, needed, intended, and our facilities, supplies etc. I have worked in India and Africa with very little if any supplies or facilities. I will do my best to meet the educational and therapeutic needs and desires of my client/student. I love a challenge. I am very resourceful, flexible and creative. I facilitate visual art practices (am a college art professor), yoga (certified 300+hrs) and somatic movement-dance (Soul Motion Teacher), as well as life skills and nutritional/healthy-living guidance.

All ages. All abilities. Special populations.

Find your teacher, not someone else's. Be open to learning something from everyone but know when you have found the teacher you need right now. Let it shift, evolve, grow. Be open and work hard and things will work out for you! Trust your deep knowing. Tell the truth. Love life. Follow your inspiration!

Details

$60./hour with two hour minimum for up to 5 people is a good starting concept. Art supplies may be provided for an extra fee if desired/necessary. Yoga props provided.

Price is negotiable depending on the group size or individual, where we meet (my studio or yours), and how many times we meet. Purchasing multiple lessons may allow reduced fees. Open to suggestions.
