About Gabriella

At Olive Branch English Tutoring services, I am committed to helping you succeed. I do not take on more than 3 clients at a time to ensure that you have my complete attention and you are given every chance to succeed.

I graduated high school about 5 years ago and many of my classmates began coming to me for assistance with their English homework. I always wrote essays that received outstanding marks, & I was always happy to share my knowledge and experience with others.

I have obtained numerous academic scholarships for my fictional essays and my ability to descriptively convey stories. I graduated from high school with honors, and a 3.9GPA. I am currently majoring in child development with a specialization in early childhood education, so in the near future I will be a teacher, which means that many of the subjects you (or your child!) is learning now, are subjects that I am required to know for my job!

I hope to work with you soon and I hope you have a great day!

I enjoy watching my students grow. Many of my students come to me with very little knowledge or understanding and it brings me absolute joy to watch my students understand the concept of the work they are doing. the first time they are able to do an assignment without my assistance makes me gleam because it reassures me that I am doing my job right.

My experience in teaching began when I was 17 years old. I was given the choice to leave school early most days so I would frequently volunteer in my siblings classes. I would help grade homework and would often sit and work with the children on subjects they were stuck on. When I graduated high school I knew I wanted to work with children so I went into my major and applied for jobs that related to my major. I worked with LAUSD and the Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation department for their summer camp programs.

I am majoring in Child development with a specialization in early childhood education, so teaching is my chosen career path. Along with this I also have experience with LAUSD, as a former teachers aide. my responsibilities included creating lesson plans, grading tests and homework and updating parents on their Childs progress through schoology.

I typically begin with an informal interview, it’s easier to work with someone when you’re comfortable with them. I then discuss what exactly they’re looking for in terms of my services. some students strictly want a review and grammar check on their essays, other students need help with every step of the essay and I also have students who are very young or are learning English and need help learning the absolute basics. wherever you are on your journey, I am here and happy to help!

Most of my experience is with elementary aged children, ensuring parents that any knowledge absorbed during the school year was not lost during the summer. I also have experience in helping high school aged students write essays and i offer feedback and critique on college essays.

Please make sure that you genuinely like the tutor you decide to hire. When I meet with a potential student, I always make sure that they connect with me. I try to create study worksheets that revolve around students interests (ex. football, Disney, animals). I cannot keep my students interested in the work if I do not know where their interests lie.

A recent event I am fond of is when one of my students won a $10,000 scholarship on an essay I assisted her on. She came to me 9 months prior with very poor grammar skills and when it came time to write her essay, the only assistance I provided was grammar check and critique. I was very proud of how much she accomplished and how far she came during our time.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Create a list with your parent, usual teacher, or peer on areas of study that are your weakest. It is helpful to know what exactly your needs are. Remember, my job is to help YOU! I want to see you succeed because that means i'm doing MY job right! I added a list of questions below that I am happy to answer and questions that you should ask other teachers before hiring them as well.

1) What is your ELO (Expected Learning Outcome) for me? (this question usually cannot be answered until we discuss the areas of assistance you need)

2) What sets you apart from other tutors/ teachers?

3) Why do you enjoy teaching? (This is a very important question because many people are in this for the pay check and not the passion!)
