About Elizabeth

I'm a fellow student (University of Idaho) so I'm right there with you when you find yourself in a rut! I catch myself handing out advice to my friends about their homework all the time, so I'm always happy to help. I can be shy, but I promise that I'm fun, understanding and most importantly, very patient.

I want YOU to feel better about your education. School isn't for everyone, but learning can be fun. I want my clients to gain a more positive outlook on what they do in school, even if it's not something you're particularly interested in. My favorite part about this job is seeing a text message saying "my grade went up!" Yes! I'm so happy for you! Be proud!

I'm a sophomore at the University of Idaho, majoring in English with an emphasis in creative writing.

I have 4 years of basic German speaking experience, having also been to Germany by doing a student exchange program.

I have taken advanced English classes since the 8th grade, and continued to do so through my senior year of high school.

I was awarded top honors in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for "Excellence in Writing," moving my work to national levels.

I have been a member in the Meridian High School band four years as well as being a section leader for two years.

In my free time, I love to write. I can make up stories and play with language and imagery on a Google doc for hours at a time. I also enjoy drawing from time to time, usually relating to my written work.

About the lesson

Get to know each other first! Tutoring can be stressful for the student. I know what it's like to have a hard time in school, I would like to create a safe space with my student and make sure that they feel comfortable with me. I would first try to ask some questions such as "what are your goals?" "do you have an idea of what learning style works best for you?" and of course, "what can I do to help you?" From there, it depends on the student. I am there to help and be a guide, not give demands and orders.

I have mostly worked with personal friends. I often tell some of my friends "I want a 5 page essay about that on my desk Monday morning!" as a joke. Funny enough, I did recieve an essay from a friend that was teasing me about the car I drove with real research and everything. I proceeded to tease them back by offering a serious critique on their writing. They ended up asking me to help with many of their real essays in school, and we became a pretty good team!
