About Eliana
As a seasoned tutor for writers of all ages, we can all agree that writing can be really hard; that's what I'm here for. From a blank page to the final draft, I work with writers at any stage of their writing process so they can feel confident in their work.
I have privately tutored since 2013, and I also worked for an academic writing center. My years of tutoring writers of diverse backgrounds have helped me to cater my tutoring to the writer's needs. The goal is to work with the writer to build skills that they can apply to future work. I'm confident that we can work together to find what works for you.
I'm so excited to help you navigate through your writing process! Feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns, and I'll be sure to answer and alleviate them.
I enjoy being a part of the process, especially finding a plan that works for the writer. Catering plans is one of my specialties, and it brings me joy when the writer starts becoming more comfortable with their work.
I got my start in teaching through volunteer work. After school, I would volunteer at different schools and offer services in all subjects, especially Math and English. Seeing my students light up with understanding and a new sense of direction inspired me to continue working professionally.
I have been a writing tutor since 2013 across different companies and schools.

I like to start off sessions by establishing what our goals are. I understand that we all have different deadlines, so I want to know what your priorities and thought processes are, so I can better accommodate the session to your needs.
I have worked with students of different backgrounds and needs, from language barriers to learning disabilities to students with writing insecurities. Every writer has their own needs that should be met, and I am happy to help.
I recommend finding a tutor who is willing to listen first before they proceed with the session. It's incredibly important for the student to feel validated wherever they are in their respective process, and it's one of the tutor's responsibilities to honor that.
I ran into one of my students as I was running errands. This student had worked with me primarily online, so I did not expect them to recognize me, but when they saw me, they ran up to me and hugged me. We had worked on a thesis and a personal statement, so I asked them if they had any updates on their application. They excitedly announced that they had gotten into their top programs, along with their backups. They sincerely thanked me, and I bought them a Starbucks drink to celebrate. It was a most definitely rewarding experience, and it's one I take to heart.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Here are my favorite questions I encourage my students to reflect on.
- What are my goals with writing? What are my goals for this work?
- What lesson do I want to learn and understand by the end of this session?
- Do I want to be listened to, guided, or accompanied through this process?

Details
Typically, I like to set the standard rate at $25 per hour. However, the rate can change depending on the writer's specific needs. For example, if the student cannot travel and prefers to work in person, the rate will increase to match the commute. I will also adjust the price according to the level of difficulty and preparation for the session.
