About Caitlin
I have over 10 years of experience teaching English language learners. I have taught abroad as well in the US, working with youth as well as adult learners. I have a Masters in TESOL as well as a CELTA. I believe my classroom emulates an active, engaging learning experience where students receive authentic, active practice with the language.
I enjoy seeing students learn and achieve their language goals. It gives me joy seeing a student go from learning "Hello, my name is..." to giving speeches and writing essays for university. Whether students are learning for academic purposes or just to get by in their day to day life, I love seeing them learn and become engaged with the language.
I started teaching soon after completing my bachelors degree and CELTA course. I taught in Spain, fell in love with English language teaching, and decided to move to China to continue working as a teacher. I've been living in the US for 9 years now and have found joy in teaching learners who come to the US or are already living here.
I have a MA in TESOL as well as CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults).

For English language learners, I believe it's important to first assess where they are in their English. This can be done with a speaking assessment. Then, I ask them about their goals, what kind of English they would like to focus on, and what they hope to get out of the tutoring sessions. Then I will try to map out materials that can be used, whether it's materials they already have or things I can create on my own.
I have taught middle school, high school, university, and adult learners of English. I have taught business professionals, blue collar workers, and immigrants who just want to be able to communicate with their child's teachers.
Look for the English language teacher who can help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be. Look for a teacher who believes in an active engaging classroom where students have the opportunity to experience and work with the language in a real way, not just reciting or reading from a textbook.
