About Amos

Recently returned to the United States from two semesters in Mongolia as a two-semester visiting professor of Precalculus and Engineering Mathematics

While teaching in Mongolia International University in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, it became apparent that for domestic students, many area high schools were deficient in math and sciences. I helped freshman students overcome the difficulties they faced in precalculus class and master each material to help eventually pass the class. I am willing to help local students the same way.

When I was a junior in high school, I was inducted into the National Honor Society. I had the opportunity to tutor algebra to other students at my school. In addition, I was one of the National Honor Society members who agreed to go to a local elementary school after school to be part of the after-school third grade tutoring program weekly. 

More recently, a younger church friend who struggled in math often during high school reached out to me for help in math in person after church service. If he needed help more urgently (or that I was out of town, such as when I was away in graduate school), I was able to help him via video chat.

In spring and fall semesters of 2018, I taught higher (college) level math classes, mainly engineering mathematics but also precalculus during fall semester. 



Math has been my strong subject throughout my school life. When I entered my teenage years, I was able to help others in mathematics. 

I got my Bachelor of Art degree in Engineering Studies at Lafayette College in Easton, PA and Master's degree in City and Regional Planning at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.

Since I had just returned to the United States after being overseas for a prolonged period of time, where I taught engineering mathematics and precalculus at an English-speaking international university in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and I eventually discovered this website, I will keep the pricing low for my first few students, at the following prices: $10/hour (Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, Ramsey, Waldwick, Ho-Ho-Kus); $15/hour (rest of Bergen County); $20/hour (Passaic, Rockland and Morris Counties); $25/hour (Westchester County); $40/hour (Warren and Northampton Counties); for other counties, it will be under my discretion to determine the pricing and willingness to travel depending on specific location
