About Mary Ellen

Nothing makes me more excited than watching a student start to make sense of math through our discussions. It is so important for students to understand with time and effort, anyone can do higher level math AND there are many ways to solve math problems correctly. I have taught in both private and public schools, grade school through high school, and tutored from first grade to college level! I am a secondary certified math teacher. I have an A.S. In Business Management, a BS in Business Administration, a BS equivalent in mathematics, and an M.Ed in Advance Teaching and Learning.

I have been a certified junior high and high school teacher for 15 years. While working on my teacher certification the years before that, I was a long term and short term sub in a grade school. My education credentials are in my profile. I have also tutored students outside of school for the past 20 years.

About the lesson

I like students to identify where they feel they need help as well as sharing my observations when we are working. I will do quick verbal reviews of process and techniques to identify where each lesson should start. I also encourage students to tell me when they are not getting a process so we can try different methods. I am available to students via text/email for questions or a "jump start" when we are not meeting.
