About Natalia

I highly enjoy working with and teaching children. I believe the way to help children achieve their goals is a lot of patience and breaking down problems into simpler tasks followed by repetition, repetition, repetition. Currently, I teach gymnastics at Georgia All-Stars Gymnastics. This is my approach to teaching gymnastics and I think it is a great approach for teaching children in general. I am board certified in neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring (monitoring brain and spinal cord during surgeries.) Graduated summa cum laude with Bachelor of Science in Biology in three years. I am passionate about public health, mental health, and physical education for youth.

The reward is seeing a child not only learn new skills and achieve goals they set, but the confidence in themselves that follows along with that.

I have taught gymnastics for 8 years. Teaching a sport is not so very different than being an educational subject teacher. You need to engage the student's focus during the time you are teaching them. You need to teach them small progression steps to work towards the activity you need them to learn.

I have worked with children for 8 years as a gymnastics coach. I have tutored 1st-5th grade students in English, reading, and math. I have tutored 8th grade students in pre-algebra. I have my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and have my certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring.

About the lesson

One, talk to the student's parents so that they may get to know me and make sure I feel like a good fit as a tutor for their child. Two, talk to the child and let them explain to me where they need help and what exactly is it that they are struggling with. Three, take it session by session and be patient. I want to make sure the student understands why we are taking the progression steps that we are.

I have worked with students of all kinds of abilities. Some of my students have been diagnosed with a different variety of ADD and ADHD disorders. I have worked with students with dyslexia. I have also worked with students with more severe learning disabilities such as hearing impairment.

Aside from checking their education and backgroung credentials, talk to the teacher. See if she or he has a personality that suits you and that you will be able to get along with. Remember, you will be spending a significant amount of time with them. Also, give them a chance to get to know you as well. Every student learns differently and a good teacher will work to adjust to that student's learning style.
