About Tony
Hi, I'm Tony G., and I am a Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin at Madison pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Thermodynamics. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with honors, where I tutored Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer as a tutor certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.
I love teaching and tutoring, and one day aspire to be a professor at the university level. I have experience tutoring both in-person and online. My favorite subjects to tutor are Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, but I can also cover other mechanical engineering subjects such as fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials, physics, MATLAB, and calculus.
I am extremely passionate about the subjects I study. I love learning, but even more, I love helping others learn. Please feel free to reach out to discuss scheduling a lesson. I look forward to helping you reach your learning potential!
Throughout my own education, I found myself often helping my peers. My dorm room quickly became a center for unofficial tutoring as my peers and underclassmen on my floor would congregate there for my help. I realized that I love helping others learn even more than I love learning for myself. Because of this, I pursued an official tutoring job at my undergraduate university, where I grew to love it even more. Because of these experiences, I plan to one day become a professor and teach full time.

While my process tends to be customized to specific student's needs, my general style is to ask questions to encourage a student to critically think about a topic or problem so that they arrive at their own conclusions and solutions with my guidance, rather than just lecturing or giving an answer. This way, a student not only learns a specific topic, but also learns how to think through new problems they may encounter in the future.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Tony is a great guy, knows his stuff and knows how to communicate it very well. He's a great guy to talk to if you are doing well and want more depth to what you are learning, and he is a great guy to talk to when you are confused and frustrated and don't know what to do with your class. Overall 10/10 would keep him around if I could 🙃
If you have the opportunity to have Tony as a tutor, consider yourself lucky. Aside from being an expert in the subject, he’s caring, considerate, and patient. Tony helped me understand the thermodynamic concepts that led me to actually enjoy and successfully pass the course. Most excellent and highly recommended.
I had Tony for tutoring several times. Courses included Thermodynamics I and II, Heat transfer, and applied thermodynamics.
Tony excels at tutoring/teaching difficult subjects because he leads you to answers while making you do most all of the work. I know I learn best when I can eventually do the work on my own, so having the guidance to get me there was very helpful
I could come to a tutoring session without any direct questions, and based on the current topics in the class Tony would ask concept questions. These were very helpful in improving my understanding and showed Tony’s great grasp on the material. The questions would usually lead to more on my end, so he is also very good at instigating discussion beyond the surface level. This was important for the difficult subjects mentioned, which he also would make seem much more manageable.
I often came with multiple questions, and Tony’s approach to helping solve the problem is asking more questions, which made me have to think independently more but also increased my understanding.
Tony also makes tutoring very comfortable and I never felt pressured to have the right answer or any answer to his questions sometimes. Sometimes I would have no idea where to start in a problem. It’s a good environment to make mistakes in because he would lead me back on track to correct thinking and solutions
I’d recommend Tony without reservationTony was always willing to help out, whether that be in the regular tutoring session or during a special appointment. He applied good teaching techniques that gave me a deep understanding of the material instead of just giving me answers. Tony is very knowledgeable about thermodynamics and was able to help me through even the most difficult of problems.
He is very good at explaining topics in multiple way.
