About Alin

Hi, my name is Alin Pasa and I am a student at Yale University majoring in Math and Economics. I have been tutoring students in Math, English, and Economics ever since 2015 and have had a very high success rate. I am able to provide both homework help, supplemental lessons, and am able to reteach a subject that was previously taught to a student. Sometimes all we need in order to understand something is to hear it taught different. I am very committed to the fact that every student approaches learning differently, and I will work with the student to formulate an approach to material that best suits their needs.

I offer tutoring in all levels of mathematics up through college linear algebra and multivariable calculus. This includes geometry, triginometry, pre-calculus, algebra, and calulus 1,2,3. I also can work on test prep for the AP Calc AB and BC tests. I also offer tutoring in both highschool and college microeconomics and macroeconomics. This includes the AP Micro test. Lastly, I am available for essay review and general writing help for middle school to highschool students, including college essay coaching.

During a typical session I work with the student to help him or her understand any questions that may have formed during class, how to do the homework assigned, and I also write practice questions of my own for the student to do on his or her own time if extra practice on a subject is needed. I also can reteach a subject to a student if it was not covered and/or not understood in class.

I love working with people in all settings, but my most favorite is when I am helping someone understand a subject that I find so much joy in. Mathematics can be an extremely challenging subject that discourages many people. It is my core belief that mathematical literacy is something that can be learned through practice and diligence- it is not something you are either born with or without. I hope to promote this through working with students on making math their own, and understanding it in their own way instead of either accepting what is taught in class or giving up on the subject as a whole.

I have tutored ever since 2015, both while I am in school and over the summer.

Most students come to me to either go over topics taught in class or to understand how to do the homework they have been assigned. My first lesson with a new student will usually consist of me getting to understand his or her learning style and the areas in which he or she most needs help. I will initially go over any questions the student may have, and then I will write sample questions based off his or her material from class in order to see how he or she approaches problems.
