About Rachel
I teach from the heart. I am focused on my clients' goals for themselves, and design a variety of movements and exercises to address those goals, keeping sessions challenging yet accessible, fun and effective. I also emphasise teaching clients about their bodies, muscle names and function, so s/he can really internalise their understanding, and thus move more effectively. My ultimate goal for my clients is to be able to confidently pursue their fitness regimen without me!
I love to teach exercise! I love to facilitate the connection between wellbeing and healthfulness through movement. Each individual has specific needs and abilities, whether due to age, injury, childbirth, child rearing, or exercise variety, so my sessions are not one-size-fits-all; I love the challenge of tailoring sessions and designing movements to suit each person.
I have taught exercise for over 13 years, as a group class instructor with Jazzercise, and as a personal trainer. I have a certification from NFPT (National Federation of Professional Trainers).

The first contact with a new student is all about what is motivating them to seek a personal trainer, and how they describe their fitness goals.
I have taught to groups of widely varying ages and abilities, from late-teen and young twenty-somethings, to folks in their 70's and 80's, mostly women but some men. My personal training clients are both men and women, ages falling in their middle-age to elderly.
Look for someone relatable, or whom you find inspiring for some reason. Most personal trainers carry similar credentials; their effectiveness for you will depend upon how you feel around them. You want someone who can tap into your drive and determination, who can really coach and support you to acheive your goals, especially when the going gets tough. You want someone who will teach you as well as encourage and push you, rather than just keep you company. Ultimately, your trainer should aim to 'set you free' -- teach and enourage you enough to be able to keep going on your own!
Teaching class this morning! I love to teach exercise, and my favourite mode is dance-exercise, or moving to music. I really try to engage my students in our class, even if I have to get a little silly, or a little serious, and I always teach from the heart. I love to see the effect of exercise in people's faces. I also had a personal training client this morning: she was glowing with pride at her increased cardio capacity and improved balance. Made my day, that our sessions has her feeling so well and improved.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be ready to relate why you seek a personal trainer; what is it about the 1:1 that you want, or feel you need? Describe your exercise experiences so far, including with previous coaches; type, frequency, duration, intensity; what you loved and hated about those modes. Describe your favourite kind of or way to exercise. Talk about your expectations, too: of yourself, the exercise and of your coach.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
First of all, she’s a really nice person and very dedicated to her profession. Her knowledge of her field, including anatomy and how the brain processes physical movement, is impressive and makes for always interesting sessions. As for results, I am very pleased with the measurable improvement in my fitness (and thus in the quality of my life.
Rachel has been my personal trainer for 6 months and my jazzercise instructor for three years. She is a dedicated and patient coach whose main goal is to help her clients. Her knowledge of the anatomy of the body combined with her many years of teaching made her a very unique and special trainer. My shoulders and core strength have improved greatly since working with her.
