About Mustafa

Hi, I’m Mustafa, a dedicated Chemistry tutor with over 7 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I hold a strong academic background in Physical chemistry, and Biochemistry. I specialize in guiding students through AP Chemistry, IB Diploma Chemistry (HL & SL), and High School Chemistry.

My teaching philosophy is simple: chemistry doesn’t have to be confusing or intimidating. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, step-by-step explanations while connecting lessons to real-world examples. This approach not only helps students improve grades but also builds lasting confidence in their problem-solving skills.

I’ve helped students achieve top scores (4s & 5s on AP, 6s & 7s in IB) and prepare successfully for college-level science courses. Whether you’re aiming to ace exams, strengthen fundamentals, or tackle challenging coursework, I’ll provide a supportive and personalized learning experience designed to meet your goals.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy exploring new advancements in chemistry and creating innovative ways to make learning fun, interactive, and meaningful for my students.

My mission is to help you not only succeed in chemistry, but also enjoy the journey of learning it.

My lessons are designed to make chemistry simple, structured, and engaging for every student. I begin each session by identifying your goals—whether that’s mastering AP Chemistry free-response questions, IB exam preparation, or building confidence in high school coursework.

-I use a step-by-step teaching approach, combining clear explanations, visual aids, and problem-solving practice. Every lesson includes:

-Concept Breakdown – simplifying tough topics like thermodynamics, equilibrium, acids/bases, organic chemistry, and stoichiometry.

-Practice & Application – solving past AP and IB exam-style questions to strengthen test-taking skills.

-Personalized Support – adapting lessons to your pace, learning style, and areas that need the most improvement.

-Exam Strategies – teaching proven methods to manage time, reduce stress, and maximize scores.

-Homework & Project Help – guidance with lab reports, assignments, and Internal Assessments (for IB students).

I also provide digital resources, practice worksheets, and study tips so students can continue learning between sessions. My goal is not just to prepare you for an exam, but to help you truly understand chemistry and use it with confidence in future studies.

Each lesson is tailored to YOU—so whether you’re aiming for an AP 5, an IB 7, or stronger grades in class, I’ll help you get there.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed a deep interest in science during my high school years. The complexity and the depth of the subject always fascinated me. As for tutoring, it started in college when I began helping my peers. I realized not only did I enjoy explaining concepts, but I also had a knack for breaking down complex ideas into simpler, more digestible pieces. This experience sparked my interest in private tutoring, as I found immense satisfaction in seeing someone else's understanding and interest in the subject grow because of my assistance.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

In Biology, I find myself particularly drawn to Physiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Molecular Biology. These areas are often challenging but incredibly rewarding once understood. I enjoy discussing their real-world applications and helping students see beyond just the theory. However, I am a little less enthusiastic about organic chemistry, not because they are less important, but perhaps they don't resonate as much with my teaching style or interests. Nonetheless, I ensure that my students receive comprehensive understanding in all areas of the subject.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Absolutely, my Professor, Dr Samina Ijaz, was a significant inspiration. Their passion for Biochemistry and unique teaching style made the classes engaging and informative. They not only taught the subject but also the value of curiosity and lifelong learning, which is something I strive to instill in my students.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience, empathy, and adaptability are crucial. A good tutor must understand that every student learns differently and at their own pace. Being able to explain concepts in various ways and creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment is key. Additionally, a good tutor stays updated in their field to provide the most current and relevant knowledge.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I remember a particular research project in Molecular Biology where we had to work on Mutational Analysis of tumor suppressor genes in leukemia and lymphoma. This project taught me not only about the subject matter but also about teamwork, problem-solving, and thinking outside the box. It’s an experience that I often share with my students to highlight the practical application and fun aspect of learning.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

The ever-evolving nature of physiology presents a continuous learning curve. Staying updated with the latest developments can be challenging but it's also what makes teaching this subject so exciting. Additionally, finding ways to keep the material engaging and relevant for students of different levels is a challenge I enjoy tackling.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion extends beyond just teaching; it's about inspiring a love for learning, particularly in Biochemistry of Human Diseases. I am deeply fascinated by Digestive system, Cardiovascular system models of organ and organ system and this enthusiasm fuels my teaching. I believe that when a teacher is passionate about their subject, it’s contagious and can greatly impact students’ engagement and learning.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

Besides my dedication to answering these interview questions, what makes me a Superprof is my commitment to each student's success. I tailor my teaching methods to suit individual learning styles, ensuring that each session is both productive and enjoyable. My ability to connect theory with practical examples, my ongoing dedication to professional development in my field, and my genuine enthusiasm for teaching and seeing my students succeed, all contribute to making me not just a tutor, but a Superprof.
This interview provides a glimpse into my approach and philosophy as a tutor in Biomedical Sciences. I'm excited about the opportunity to inspire and guide more students in their educational journey!
