My students tell me that I have lots of energy and zest! That I give them the confidence to do what they never thought they could do. That's because I know they can do it! I'm sunny, funny and warm. Perhaps that is because I'm a mother. But I also very carefully structure my lessons and am very patient to make sure that everyone has understood what I have been sharing with them.
I began nearly forty years ago giving private music lessons, found I loved teaching and went on to get various teaching qualifications together with a PhD on the way! I've taught art, cookery, music, confidence-building, job-hunting skills to adults in the community and children one-to-one. Now I have added a TESOL, so I can teach English to speakers of other languages.

Perfect! I've learned a lot with Joanna, She is an excellent teacher. Every time I wished to improve my English, I had to start at the beginning--not very encouraging. With Joanna, the learning was fun and different. What I've liked most about our sessions is that she didn't overload me with unnecessary information, but only taught me what I needed which I found very efficient and effective.
My English has improved a lot and I have gained confidence, I will definitely recommend her as a tutor.
It was lovely to meet Fatoumata, or Diarra, as she is known (she told me this means ‘lion’!). I learnt from this lady & I believe she learnt from me. I’m so impressed with her knowledge of languages & I’m so glad I have some knowledge of French - her first language. Looking forward to our next lesson!
