About Thomas

Hi! I’m Thomas, an American tutor passionate about language learning and cross-cultural communication. I studied Finance and Chinese at the University of Minnesota and have lived and studied in Taiwan, where I gained first-hand experience helping students improve their English for academic and professional goals. As someone who has learned Chinese for many years, I understand how challenging mastering a foreign language can be — and I use that understanding to create a supportive, encouraging environment for my students. My lessons focus on clarity, confidence, and real-world communication, whether you’re preparing for study abroad, professional interviews, or everyday conversations. About the lesson

Hello! I’m Thomas, an American tutor with a background in Finance and Chinese Language Studies. My teaching approach focuses on practical, confidence-building English — helping Chinese learners speak naturally in real-life situations, whether for school, work, or travel.

In each lesson, I begin with a short conversation warm-up to get students comfortable speaking. Then, we move into targeted practice — this could include pronunciation correction, vocabulary expansion, or role-play dialogues (such as interviews, meetings, or casual conversations). I always take notes during class and share personalized feedback at the end, so you know exactly how to improve.

What sets me apart is my deep understanding of both English and Chinese, and how the two languages differ in structure and expression. This allows me to explain tricky English concepts in a clear, logical way that makes sense to Chinese speakers.
