About Stephen

I have given and helped with internal sessions to students at University level over the last couple of years. This includes one on one sessions with university students where I've helped with any questions or problems they've had with example sheet questions or just general concepts. I've also helped out in example classes of 20-30 students, answering similar questions at a university level.

About the lesson

Hi! I'm a recent graduate of the University of Manchester in Mathematics, achieving a First Class Degree at Masters Level. I love all types of Maths and want to dedicate my time to teaching it to others as well.

My lessons are geared towards students who wish to understand Maths to either a GCSE or A Level standard, and in some cases I can teach to a university degree standard (in areas of Pure Mathematics).

My main goal is to take a concept or problem that you might be having a hard time understanding, and explain it in a more familiar way that you will understand. While the lesson will usually be fluid with no fixed structure, it will usually consist of a topic or concept (either a pre-discussed one or I can teach something new) which you might have trouble understanding or have never seen before, and I will give examples and explain it in an atypical way that will be a lot easier to understand than a purely mathematical approach.

I'm an extremely patient person, and I don't mind spending as much time as needed to go over anything at all you may be having trouble with. My main philosophy is to fully explain and justify concepts completely so that you will fully understand them; this in itself is the reason I am doing this, rather than the money. It gives me great joy to see someone grasp something that they were having trouble with before, and I love talking about Maths so this is enjoyable for me as well.

I can give lessons in Manchester and around the Manchester area. Since I do not have a car, this means that if I'm travelling I will be spending money and time travelling, which is what the extra money will be used for.
