About Alyssa
What sparks my joy in life is being able to help someone learn. Whether it's about animals and conservation via my zookeeping position, or cross-training peer employees in a new laboratory skill, my passion to teach others is incredibly fulfilling. My strength is thinking creatively to demonstrate difficult-to-grasp concepts in a new and easier way, while providing tips and tricks to remember information and work through problems on your own with accuracy and confidence!

With a strong creative side, my approach to tutoring involves thinking outside the box to explain and expand on concepts, using mnemonics and other memory tools that make it easy to grasp and retain information, and frequently checking in with my students to ensure full understanding before finishing the session. My typical lesson plan starts by briefly going through the core concepts, noting any areas of strength and weakness, and then setting and following a schedule to make sure session topics align with exam dates. With experience teaching K-12 and tutoring through college level courses, I am flexible with any level, and my strengths lie within mathematics and biological sciences.
