About Lian

I am a flute tutor passionate about helping students grow both technically and creatively. My teaching combines mentorship, critical thinking, and accountability to ensure steady progress. I focus on developing tone, phrasing, rhythm, and breath control while nurturing musical expression. I also teach music theory, sight-reading, and ear training for complete musicianship. Creativity is emphasised through improvisation, small compositions, and musical exploration. I guide students to set goals, stay disciplined, and track progress consistently. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities and steps toward improvement.

I adapt lessons to each student’s pace, skill level, and personal interests. I act as a mentor, offering guidance, motivation, and support. Lessons are structured yet engaging, balancing technical skill-building with creative exercises. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and independent thinking in every session. My goal is to build confidence, discipline, and curiosity in all students. I also teach related subjects such as performance preparation, rhythm, and theory. I create a positive, motivating, and inspiring environment. My ultimate aim is to help students become expressive, confident, and lifelong lovers of music.

About the lesson

My flute teaching approach encourages students to learn with creativity, discipline, and reflection. I see myself as both a teacher and a mentor who helps students discover their potential. Each lesson combines structured exercises with creative exploration. Accountability is key—I teach students to take ownership of their progress and stay consistent. We set clear goals for each week and celebrate even small achievements. I focus on building solid fundamentals such as tone, breathing, and rhythm. Students also learn to analyse music and understand the meaning behind what they play.

Critical thinking is encouraged in every class through listening and self-evaluation. I use creative games and improvisation to make learning fun. My lessons include theory, rhythm reading, and ear training to develop complete musicianship. I adjust my teaching for each student’s pace and personality. Mistakes are treated as part of learning, not failure. I emphasise patience and perseverance in every session. My teaching environment is positive, friendly, and focused on growth. Along with flute, I teach related subjects like theory and performance skills. My aim is to help students build confidence, creativity, and a deep love for music.
