I use 4 steps to teach
Telling: I verbally let students know what an algorithm is.
Demonstration: I show students, often using examples, how an algorithm works.
Drill-and-practice: I ask students to do exercises in relatively straightforward situations, which are essentially routine and repetitive in nature.
Remediation: I help students correct their mistakes found in their drill and practice.
