About Alexander
Hello, my name is Alex, and I have been an GCSE, A-Level and IB chemistry teacher and tutor for over ten years. During this time, I have been helping students reach their full potential in all three sciences. I have tutored many students one-on-one and worked closely with them to achieve their goals. All the students I have tutored have gone on to study at the universities of their choosing, after getting excellent results.
After completing my degree in education over 10 years ago I have lots of experience of both teaching and tutoring. Before I trained as a teacher I completed a degree in chemistry, making this my specialist subject teaching it at IBDP as well as A-level. I also have lots of experience teaching both biology and physics at GCSE.
My favourite aspect of being in education is working with students, helping them overcome any difficulties they might have and seeing their look of satisfaction after completing something important.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy outdoor activities as well as cooking.

When it comes to learning science it can be difficult to build confidence. My main teaching methodology is to encourage students to believe they can learn chemistry. Learning becomes a lot more successful when you have the confidence that you can understand the subject. One of the ways I approach this is by being a kind and patient tutor who is always very supportive.
The lessons I teach would typically be an hour depending on the student. During this time we would be working on your targets, getting you closer to where you need to be. We would we do lots of different activities that would be getting you think about the subject in a different way, as well as dedicating time to prepare you for the exams. This could looking at past paper questions, or improving exam technique.
