About Sara
I’m a graduate student pursuing my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at St. Mary’s University, with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of the Incarnate Word. My coursework has taken me deep into research methods, statistics, psychopathology, family systems theory, and counseling ethics — the exact classes that trip up a lot of psychology students.
Before grad school, I worked as a Behavioral Specialist Intern at the San Antonio Zoo, where I ran structured behavioral observations, and I spent years managing the day-to-day of a family-owned restaurant, which taught me a lot about staying organized and communicating clearly under pressure.
I know firsthand how overwhelming stats and research methods can feel when you’re staring down a syllabus that doesn’t explain why any of it matters. My approach is patient and step-by-step: I want you to actually understand the material, not just get through the next assignment. Whether you need help with a single confusing concept or ongoing support through a tough semester, I’m glad to work with you.

For statistics and research methods, I focus on building real understanding of why a formula or test works, not just memorizing steps for an exam. That way concepts stick past the test date and make sense in later coursework too.
For psychology courses (intro through upper-level), I connect theory to real-world examples so material feels less abstract. As a grad student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I bring hands-on familiarity with case conceptualization, family systems theory, and psychopathology — so I can help with coursework at multiple levels, not just intro classes.
Sessions are collaborative: I’ll check your understanding as we go rather than just lecturing, and I’m happy to work from your syllabus, homework, or study guide. My goal is for you to leave each session more confident, not just caught up.
