About Precious

My name is Damilola. I am a graduate with a degree in English and Literary Studies, with a major in Literature. I enjoy writing, reading and many other creative activities. I am extremely jovial, approachable, and I find it fulfilling to be of help to others or simply to be someone people can rely on.
I have always enjoyed teaching, and it has been one of my childhood dreams, among many others. I believe that every child or student has a learning pace that needs to be understood and followed. Unfortunately, not every tutor works this way, and this is one of the reasons I want to be in this field: to help close that gap.
I want every student who has a learning session with me to feel that they are not simply being taught, but genuinely understood. My goal is to create a comfortable learning environment where students can learn at their own pace, build a strong foundation, and ultimately improve in the areas where they experience difficulty.

About the lesson

I hold a B.A. in English and Literary Studies, with a major in Literature.
I offer lessons in English Language and Literature, covering areas such as grammar, comprehension, writing, vocabulary, sentence construction, literary texts, themes, characters, literary devices and analysis.
My approach to teaching comes from my own experience as a learner. I may grasp a concept quickly, but only after I have properly understood the basics. Building that foundation can take time, and I understand that not every student learns at the same pace.
When a student struggles, I don't believe the answer is simply to move on and expect them to catch up. I take the time to identify what they don't understand, go back to the necessary foundation, and build from there at a pace they can follow. I use step-by-step explanations, examples, guided practice, questions and feedback to make sure the student is following rather than simply memorising.
My lessons are suitable for primary and secondary school students, from age 8-16 particularly students who need extra support with English Language or Literature, want to strengthen their foundation, or need help keeping up with their schoolwork.
Lessons are 1 hour per session, with the pace and content adjusted to the student's level and learning needs. My goal is to close the gap between what a student is expected to know and what they actually understand, so they can eventually keep up with confidence and independence

I knew her at university. She can learn and also pass information well, articulately for anyone to understand. She has good introspection on very important topics and can talk about them well for anyone to understand.
