About Pia

I am a 25 year old business graduate who loves to write and is very creative. While studying abroad in Switzerland, I tutored a group of kids in English and really enjoyed seeing them improve. I also helped them with their academic struggles and helped prepared them for university as the jump in writing requirements is very steep.

About the lesson

My teaching style aims to challenge but also support the student in developing an understanding of the language and the different ways it can be used. I want them to be confident in their writing as well as speaking. Learning should be fun and fulfilling and I hope all my students leave every lesson having learnt something that they can use.

I dedicate the full slot to the students requirement with format changes depending on needs. Worksheets given to students who require extra attention understanding the language, with a focus on phonics and how the words meaning can change based on context.

Slow conversations for those who need help speaking, usually after first lesson to understand the level of the student. A topic will be given for more advanced students prior to the lesson so they have time to prepare. A conversation will be held around this. Mistakes will be noted and corrected after the conversation unless too severe.

Critical analysis for academic students who require help with understanding academic, language and writing. This is often in the form of work submitted to me in advance and I will go through with the student on different points to improve upon. (note this is purely for sentence structure, grammar, and use of certain phrases in context as opposed to content. I will not be writing for you.)
