About Nicole

Hello everyone! Thank you for choosing me to be your instructor. I have been an ESL/TESOL instructor for over 4 years. I have a degree in Humanities and Cultural Studies from the University of South Florida. We will have a lot of fun and improve your English skills at the same time. Do you like movies, music, food, and sports? I do also! I will teach you grammar, phonics, sentence structure, creative writing, pronunciation, vocabulary, and annunciation, by talking about the things you like to do or watch. Then guess what? At the end of class, you may ask me anything you'd like about my hobbies. We will learn a lot about each other!

I have a big silly Golden Retriever who likes to come to the camera and say hello.. He loves to learn English as well. Together, your English skills will improve and I will always be here to help you when needed.

i also create videos to share with my students either on Kakao or WeChat if there is an area you would like to focus on, I will create a short video to help you when asked. I can't wait to meet you!

About the lesson

Phonics lesson:
We will learn phonics with some fun techniques. Who is your favorite Superhero? Mine is Ironman! Will will practice the "L' sound today. Everyone repeat after me: "la la la la.' Notice where your tongue is when saying 'la'. It is hiding behind your front teeth and then your tongue tries to escape your mouth but you quickly pull it back. "la la la' Practice this while you are cleaning your room. Also, look around your room and write down the words that begin with L. "Lamp. lollipop (lah-lee-pop), Lion toy, and so on. We will discuss the L words your find in our next lesson. What L words would your superhero have in their house?

I think what sets me apart as a tutor is I use my knowledge of music, pop-culture, film studies, art history, and incorporate any of these subjects, into the lesson. I would focus on phonics, buts I would also pay close attention to annunciation, vocabulary, and sentence structure. I keep my students engaged by asking open ended questions they can answer throughout the lesson.

Most of my classes are aimed for all students. I tweak the lesson depending on the age of the student. If the student is an adult, I would ask the student questions pertaining to their job, hobbies, and family. If the student is a child, I would use a whiteboard more heavily and ask the student to participate with their pen etc. or even write a short story with the student. I teach all ages with my ESL lessons.
