About Holly
As a language learner myself, I understand the obstacles and the issues that language learners have. I have studied French and Russian, I speak Spanish at a basic level, and I am fluent in Turkish. I love helping my students break down their obstacles to learning and work toward using English both fluently and accurately.

Hello there, I’m Holly. I live in Miami, Florida but was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. As a viola player and singer growing up with neighbors from Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Mexico, and the Philippines, I became interested in the “music” of other languages at a young age. I began to study French at age 11 and continued through university where I also studied Russian. I taught myself Turkish 30 years ago as I wanted to communicate with my spouse’s family. However, the first time I used Turkish was to ask for directions to a swimming beach (I love to swim!) in Turkey.
I have taught English in Izmir, Turkey and currently teach in Miami, Florida to students from over 25 countries such as Egypt, Honduras, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Vietnam.
During the pandemic, I fell in love with teaching online as I was able to personalise lessons. My students did “homework” before class which allowed them to use the language learned in the lesson and focus on the “music” or intonation of English which helped them express themselves more clearly. I can’t wait to help you express yourself in English!
