About Sybe

Because I did not attend a conservatory but flew into the music world from the theater, I have an authentic view of what music is and can be. In that sense I am not a standard music teacher, but I am looking for original angles of perception and connections. I can give a new and fresh look at someone's own musicality and give inspiration from striking, innovative and unexpected sources. You should therefore not expect tight, schematic and technical exercises from me. Discovery, fun, playfulness and energy are central to me. Everyone is musical and you will find that out in my lessons.

I can give people with more experience a new and fresh look at their own musicality. If someone feels 'stuck' in something, I can help them get back on track with unexpected exercises and lessons with renewed energy.

Skills:

My knowledge and experience focuses mainly on singing, text experience, music production and writing lyrics in spoken word or rap. For example, I made a small mixtape with my own beats and lyrics, I had lessons from, among others, Paul Koek and Ton van der Meer and I made more than 10 music theater performances during my education.

About the lesson

What kind of teacher am I:

I look for the common ground between the learner and myself. That forms the basis for the lessons, in which I put my skills at the service of the joint research.

Lesson duration and content arise in consultation with the learner.

Starting level/age, etc. does not matter . I see music as a playful way to connect.

Background:

I graduated from the Bachelor of Theater in Education at Artez and obtained my first degree teaching qualification there. During my education I made a lot of music theater, in which singing, spoken word and music produced with the ABLETON program were always central. For me, music and theater are inextricably linked.

Before the Docent Theater training, I had lessons for 3 years at the Bachelor of Dramatic School in Arnhem and extensively followed singing and choral singing. That's where my technical foundation was established.

In the teacher training course I started researching my own artistry and so I started writing a lot and started producing myself. My lyrics are always rhythmic and play with sound and dynamics. Playfulness and energy are essential.
