About Connie
I started tutoring kids at Kumon starting when I was in the 8th grade and tutored English/Reading and Mathematics every weekend until I graduated high school. I loved working with kids and seeing the magical moment where things clicked for the student. Now, I work as an aerospace engineer and have a deep understanding of high levels of mathematics and science. I think something that's important as a tutor is not only their knowledge of the topic, but their enthusiasm and love for the subject as well. My goal is to make learning fun for the student and let curiosity drive their passion. That's my ultimate goal! Throughout all my years of tutoring, I have come across a lot of different types of students and am able to tailor my teaching style to what I think would work best for that student.

I like to start the lesson plan with background on what the topic at hand is and why we're learning it - why it's important. Then I like to review the content, walk through some examples, and then let the student attempt similar problems to gauge their understanding of the topic. If there seems to be confusion, we'll delve into where the disconnect may be and focus on that. Then we will conclude with a summary of what we've learned today and some action items (or homework) to further test their knowledge and push the bounds of what they have learned. In our next lesson, we will review and proceed with the next lesson.
