About Jaxxson
Welcome to our course. My name is Jae Jackson, and I will be your grammar, English, and creative writing tutor this term. Together, we will strengthen your command of language—from the foundations of grammar and clear sentence structure to expressive, original writing that reflects your unique voice. My goal is to create a supportive space where you can ask questions, take risks with your writing, and steadily build confidence in your skills. I look forward to working with each of you as we read, write, revise, and grow as communicators and creators.

As a tutor, my approach is centered on fostering understanding, encouraging curiosity, and adapting to each learner's unique needs. Here’s a detailed breakdown of my tutoring methods and techniques:
Teaching Method and Techniques
Personalized Learning Experience: I tailor my teaching methods based on the student's individual learning style. Whether they are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners, I adapt my techniques accordingly.
Socratic Questioning: I employ a Socratic method to encourage critical thinking. By asking open-ended questions, I lead students to discover answers themselves, promoting deeper understanding.
Interactive Learning: I incorporate interactive elements such as quizzes, discussions, and problem-solving activities. This keeps students engaged and allows for immediate application of concepts.
Scaffolding: I break down complex topics into manageable parts, gradually increasing difficulty as the student’s understanding grows. This helps prevent overwhelm and builds confidence.
Feedback and Reflection: Continuous feedback is essential. I encourage students to reflect on their learning process, discussing what strategies worked, what didn't, and how we can improve.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-up (5-10 minutes): Begin with a review of the previous lesson or a quick quiz to gauge understanding.
Objective Setting (5 minutes): Clearly define the goals for the lesson, explaining what students should know or be able to do by the end.
Instruction (20-30 minutes): Introduce new concepts using a mix of direct teaching, visual aids, and examples. Encourage questions to ensure comprehension.
Guided Practice (15-20 minutes): Students work on exercises or problems with my support, applying the concepts learned.
Independent Practice (10-15 minutes): Assign practice problems or tasks to reinforce skills learned during the lesson.
Closure (5 minutes): Recap key points and clarify any lingering doubts. Discuss what will be covered in the next session.
Homework Assignment (if applicable): Provide materials or exercises to be completed before the next lesson.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Adaptability: I am flexible in adjusting my methods and materials based on real-time feedback from students.
Empathy and Support: I focus on building a supportive learning environment where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities rather than failures.
Focus on Growth Mindset: I emphasize the importance of effort and resilience, encouraging students to embrace challenges and view setbacks as a path to improvement.
Who the Lessons Are For
Degree Level: High school, undergraduate, and some graduate-level students.
Subjects: Mathematics, science, literature, and social sciences, with an ability to cover various topics within these areas.
Specificities: Ideal for students seeking one-on-one assistance, those preparing for exams (like SAT, GRE), or individuals looking to enhance their understanding in specific subjects or skills.
In summary, my tutoring approach is highly individualized, interactive, and focused on critical thinking, making learning an enjoyable and effective process for diverse learners.
