About Smita
I am an internationally certified Yoga teacher known for my passion, gentle approach, and holistic teaching style that embraces the mind-body-soul connection.
Life before Yoga was full of stressing over work, poor sleep, and thinking that happiness only came from earning a comfortable salary. Despite living what seemed like an ideal lifestyle (financially, socially, professionally), why was it that I felt so empty on the inside? It was this question/feeling that completely shifted my perspective on the life I was living at the time. I left my comfort zone behind (including the comfortable salary), moved to Rishikesh, India and pursued an intense 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training Course.
This initial pursuit turned into a year long sabbatical, and would forever shift the rest of my life. As difficult as it was to leave my comfort zone during that time, I learned the following lessons: value and enjoy your time more, build an authentic relationship with yourself, and learn to flow with change. It was through this sabbatical journey that I realized the importance of paying attention to my posture, nervous system, thoughts, and the way I breathe on a daily basis.
My main objective as an educator is to demonstrate to my students that Yoga is much more than flexibility and strength. It is the awareness that you cultivate through movement and breath that makes Yoga special.

Calling all: individuals, groups and corporate students
Melt away the tension, stress, and pressures of the day as you dive into stillness.
How often do you pay attention to your breath? How do you know if you are breathing properly? How are your alignment and posture benefitting you in this moment?
Each one of my classes helps you to shift your attention to the subtler aspects of your body-mind-soul connection. We begin with a slow, gentle pace and gradually challenge both the body and breath in different poses. As we navigate different poses, you will learn proper alignment, names of muscle groups, and most importantly how to avoid injuring yourself!
We take our time, move with care and build up a sweat without leaving you depleted or in pain.
