About Alivia
Hi! My name is Alivia, I usually go by Liv. I am a 16-year-old student with a strong passion for English and writing. I have taken college-level Composition I and Composition II and have been in advanced English classes for six consecutive years, where I developed many strong skills.
In addition to my academics, I am a part-time student at NWACC, a member of the medical pathway at my High School, and the football manager for Pea Ridge High School Football, which has helped me develop strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Because I am closer in age to the students I tutor, I understand the challenges many students face when learning how to write essays or express their ideas clearly. My goal is to help students build confidence in their writing, improve their grammar and structure, and develop skills that will help them succeed in school.

My teaching approach focuses on building confidence and strong foundational skills in writing and grammar. I believe students learn best when lessons are interactive, encouraging, and adapted to their individual learning style. I break complex writing concepts into simple, manageable steps so students can understand not only what to do, but why they're doing it.
I use techniques such as guided practice, step-by-step essay building, brainstorming exercises, and creative prompts to help students develop their ideas. I also focus on constructive feedback, helping students revise and improve their work rather than just correcting mistakes. My goal is to make writing feel less intimidating and more like a skill students can grow into with practice.
Typical Lesson Plan:
a typical lesson plan is flexible and adjusted to each student's needs, but generally follows this structure:
1. Warm up (5-10 minutes): A short grammar exercise, writing prompt, or review of the previous lesson to get students thinking.
2. Concept Intro (10-15 minutes): Explanation of a writing skill such as thesis statements, paragraph structure, transitions, grammar rules, or storytelling techniques.
3. Guided Practice (15-20 minutes): Working together on examples, outlining an essay, building a paragraph, developing creative ideas, or even working on assignment specific work.
4. Independent Writing (10-15 minutes): The student applies the concept by writing a paragraph, short response, or part of an essay.
5. Feedback and Revision (5-10 minutes): We review the work together, discuss strengths, and identify areas for improvement. We always end the session on a good note, focusing on what the student did well, rather than too much of what they should continue to work on.
As a young tutor, I connect easily with students and understand the challenges they face in school writing assignments. I am highly advanced in English classes and have strong skills in essay writing, creative writing, grammar, and conventions. Because I am closer in age to my students, I can explain concepts in ways that feel relatable and easy to understand. I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and experimenting with their ideas. My goal is not only to help them develop confidence in their own voice and creativity.
My lessons are designed for grade school and middle school students, typically 5th through 8th grade, who are beginning to develop stronger writing skills. I help students who want to improve their essay writing, creative writing, grammar, and overall writing structure. Lessons are helpful for students working on school assignments, prepping for writing assignments, or building confidence in their writing abilities.
