I use Blended Learning in my work, that is a mixture of digital and face to face techniques. I work with all levels of ability from beginners to advanced and SEN students. I create an individual learning plan, tailor made for each student. I can also offer careers advice. I am a fully qualified tutor and a member of the Education Workforce Council Wales.
I have very wide ranging and long term experience of delivering Creative Media Production Training to a very diverse spectrum of students, in colleges, schools, for third sector organisations, local governments and charity bodies.
My background is in TV production and presentation, having been a TV journalist for two series for HTV Wales. I wrote and presented features for a music series called ‘Rough Mix’ and a lifestyle programme called ‘Time Out’.
I have also done work as a corporate presenter and an actor, with small parts in show such as House of Elliot, Casualty, Shine on Harvey Moon. KYTV. I was an animator for children’s TV in Milan, Italy on a programme called ‘Bim Bum Bam’.
I have written, produced, directed and edited two short films. The first of which, ‘Eddie’ was released globally on Channel 4, and E4 through World of Wonder Films, for three years, as part of a series called ‘Adam and Joe’s Takeover TV’.
I was lead trainer on a Bafta Award winning training project called ‘Breaking The News’ in collaboration with BBC News, Channel 4 New, ITN News and a number of schools and training providers. So I have experience working with students and mentors from the industry on an on line and broadcast project and being a bridge between an educational establishment and professional media entities.
I also worked as lead trainer on a collaborative project between the BBC Head of Comedy and a training provider in Hammersmith to produce a comedy sketch show which was broadcast on BBC 2, as part of the BBC Blast series.
We also produced content for our own on line channel and I provided creative industry careers advice to the participating students.
I have delivered creative media training to a number of organisations icluding:
Hounslow Adult Education, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Millenium Volunteers, Hammersmith Action on Disability, CCCMedia, ABi Associates, Fishing Rod Experience, Hi8us, The Video College, North Kensiington Film and Video Workshop, Space Studios, Vibe Creative, Communities First, Roots and Routes Rotterdam and Insight Media
I am a freelance creative content producer. I have produced corporate videos and other media for a number of clients, including:
ABi Associates - London, Royal College of Science Association - London, Hammersmith and Fulham Learning Disability Team - London, Millennium Volunteers - London, Weather Action - London, I am Woman - Cardiff, Cardiff Council Business Development Team - Cardiff and The Vale Youth Street Team - Barry.
I have been training in Blended Learning and Digital Literacy, which I use to assist in Lesson preparation, for finding learning resources, lesson delivery, assessment, feedback, etc. I have a passion for using digital media in all kinds of education settings.
I have very strong digital skills particularly in creative media production software including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, AfterFX etc) Avid Media Composer First, Davinci Resolve, Fuse 9, and many more, and a number of digital learning resources. (Moodle etc)
I am used to working under pressure and delivering to deadlines. I am very organised and I am able to work with teams, or individually. I am able to adapt quickly to changes and find solutions to problems.
I think most importantly of all however is that I am passionate about the subjects I tutor, and completely focussed on enabling the students to reach their full potential during the learning experience in a safe and supportive environment.
I think having both professional experience of Creative Media Production, working with clients and delivering projects to tight deadlines, helps a lot with my delivery of training. As I am well aware of how rigorous the work can be.
I also have a lot of experience delivering careers advice for new entrants into the creative industries, so I am able to offer advice and guidance to students, hopefully to increase their self confidence, focus and knowledge of how to progress in their careers. I have had films released and I work professionally in the industry, so I have first hand experience.
Most recently I have been working as a supply tutor in colleges in South Wales. So I have diversified into training Essential Skills including Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Literacy. So I also have experience of these subjects and quite a bit of experience working in SEN training.
I am willing to travel longer distances to work with groups. I would expect all travel expenses to be covered. This would have to be negotiated according to the location and amount of training needed, so on a case by case basis.
