About FiFi

Hi, I’m Fifi! I am a First Class Honours graduate from Central Saint Martins (UAL) with an overall 8.5 Band Score on the IELTS Academic exam and a 92% high school average.

Although I operate with native fluency today, English was not my first language. Reaching an elite 8.5 score and completing a humanities degree with top marks in London taught me the exact step-by-step mechanics of English syntax, vocabulary, and grammar. Because I went through this process myself, I can break down language rules in a clear, practical way that native-born speakers often take for granted.

Being natively bilingual in English and Mandarin also allows me to easily spot common translation habits, grammar roadblocks, and pronunciation hurdles.

I bring a patient, encouraging, and highly organised approach to tutoring. My goal is to make every student feel supported, comfortable making mistakes, and confident in their ability to reach their target score or fluency goals.

About the lesson

Who the Lessons Are For:

My lessons are open to all ages and levels, including:

- IELTS Candidates (Academic & General): Students aiming for Band 6.5 to 8.5+ for UK university admissions, visa requirements, or professional registration.

- ESOL / General English Learners (Beginner to Advanced): Adults and young learners looking to build everyday conversational confidence, expand vocabulary, and improve real-world communication.

- Academic & Workplace English: University students or professionals needing assistance with essay structuring, proofreading, presentation prep, and formal email writing.

Teaching Methodology & Techniques:

My teaching style is patient, conversation-led, and practical. Because I learnt English as an additional language myself, I focus on how native English is actually spoken and written in real life, rather than just reciting textbook rules.

In a typical lesson, we will:

- Focus on Active Speaking & Writing: We spend time discussing real-world topics, working through short writing tasks, or answering IELTS-style questions together.

- Give Real-Time Corrections: When you hit a grammar roadblock, struggle with pronunciation, or run out of vocabulary, I will note it down and give you clear, instant feedback.

- Build Natural Vocabulary: we will practise replacing repetitive or unnatural phrasing with natural idioms, academic connectors, and precise words that help you express your exact thoughts.

- Adapt to Your Goal: Whether you want to practise conversational fluency for daily life in London or need specific feedback on your IELTS writing essays, I will adjust the focus of each session to match what you want to achieve.

Typical Lesson Length:

60 minutes: The ideal length for a standard session. It leaves plenty of time for a warm-up conversation, working on a specific grammar or writing focus, and reviewing feedback at the end without feeling rushed.
